Oxford United vs Bristol Rovers

Ground Number 182 (51/92): Kassam Stadium
Oxford United 1-2 Bristol Rovers
Sunday 17th January 2016
League Two
Attendance: 9,492 (2,359 Away)

Firstly, it's refreshing to say that I've actually seen a game of football in League Two where the standard of football has been really decent. Oxford were by far the best footballing side I have ever seen at that level and must ask serious questions about themselves if they don't finish in the top three this season. It was a travesty they got nothing out of the game. While Rovers resembled the same hard-working and solid outfit they were last season, Oxford enjoyed the lions share of possession and dangerous moments in the game but just lacked that final instinct. A rash goalkeeping miscalculation cost them the game in the end.

The stadium is a three-sided bore literally about 4 miles out of town. Nothing to say about it of any note other than it was fucking freezing and really left me open to the elements. At least the crowd was excellent with strong support from both sides.

Given how well travelled I am it's weird that Oxford is a city I'm yet to have visited properly yet. It looked nice.

  1. Been to this fixture a few times. Good day out which the Thames Valley constabulary usually do their best to ruin. Oxford a great city; you need to sample a few of the boozers if you haven't already. The Kassam stadium is sh!te. I, for one, wouldn't be unhappy if Oxford were promoted with the Gas. Perhaps with Argyle??
