Midland Premier League

Studying in Leicester, I aim to tour the local non-league circuit as much as I possibly can for midweek fixtures. Quorn has always been a ground I've wanted to tick off, just for sharing a funky name we associate with the fashionista Corbyn supporting-bellends and their veganistic stance.
Rather than just a tribute act for soya, meat-substitute products, it's just the name of a small village outside Loughborough, about 35 minutes on the bus from central Leicester. It looked a lovely little place with quite a few pubs on the way in.

This is a cracking ground for Step 5 of non-league, although they have recently played a level higher. Apparently this is due to the money they received from the sale of striker Luke Varney a decade ago; who has been on the circuit for half-a-dozen clubs in the Championship. It has a wide-long terrace behind the goal, a smart-seated stand that stretches across most of the pitch, and a distinct brick clubhouse which is hospitable inside.

I know I've mocked non-league, and I hate the patronizing bollocks that gets espoused regarding it. But I have genuinely found the further you go down the pyramid, the more enjoyable the football is. Both sides on this evening genuinely tried to play the ball around on the floor and it made for a very entertaining match. The hosts came from 2-0 down to complete a second-half comeback in the dying stages.

Definitely a ground worth ticking off.
