Start Packing Your Bags Hayes: Woking 3-1 Dover

Sorry for the lazyness here guys but I'm going to outline this one in bullet points instead of long-drawn out paragraphs, simply because I'm busy and I can't be arsed. So to summarize the day for you:

  • I was initially really excited for the day/game but following the sad and shocking loss of David Bell I had really been put in a sombre mood. I struggled to sleep and woke up on Saturday morning having only managed about 4 hours.
  • Beanos really isn't a particularly pleasant place for having breakfasts. The coffee left a rancid taste in my mouth as usual.
  • The 9.24 train from Dover to Waterloo was a strange, almost eerie one. It was fairly quiet amongst us, we were still shocked and devastated by the recent awful news. But we were also determined to make a good day of it like Dave would have wanted us to. I brought 4 ales on the train with me but while they were good stuff, they were not going down very well. In fairness, at that time in the morning no alcohol should go down well!
  • It livened up a bit on the next train. Even without John Snell, who had ignored text messages and failed to turn up at Waterloo.
  • The sovereigns pub was the nuts!! I had been on my first real ale day in absolutely ages and really enjoyed it. They had 8 different guest ales on tap and most of them were fantastic. Most of the other guys had tasting racks (3 1/3rd pints for £2) whilst I just had seperate pints because I prefer the easy way of life. I think by the end of the day I'd tried a pint of nearly each and everyone! As I've mentioned before, I'm fucking useless with remember names. Can somebody help me out? The dark ruby ale was probably my favourite which is strange given I don't tend to like the darker ones.
  • I met Kingfield Ender and Grassbank again. Both top fellas as usual. Had an in-depth conversation with the former where we both ended up agreeing that Martin Hayes is our Graham Baker of this season. The comparisons are uncanny between the two. Useless, inept, ignorant fuckwits that are unable to take any responsibility for their poor decisions. Most of the Woking fans I spoke to in their and accross the day had quite a lot of empathy for our predictament which was nice. I'm also led to believe that their club offered a minute silence for Dave Bell but we politely declined it in favour of tonight, so fair play to them for that.
  • Ended up in the ground at about 10 to 3 by the time I was rather pissed. That still didn't stop me from buying a bottle of cardinal gold which was rather expensive at £3.80 yet worth it. Delicious stuff. In fairness, the bottle is about a pint and halfs worth. Ended up having 1 at half time and full time too.
  • I do not need to discuss the football in great detail because if you were not there you probably have seen the highlights anyway. If you have not then they are available Here. I actually thought we played reasonable up until the 84th minute, where calamatious defending got punished there after and we could have no complaints about the result. What the fuck was Ruiz doing for the 1st and 3rd goals? I haven't watched the highlights because I never re-watch us losing, being the sad bitter fuck that I am but he had an absolute mare. I'm not going to crucify him too much because he's been fantastic for us up until then. Had Purcell finished his one on one before they scored it could be a totally different story right now but he didn't and we deserved to lose in the end. George seemed really gutted with  himself after the game in the bar blaming himself, so at least it shows he does care.
  • I though our substitutes were typical of Martin Hayes. He has no imagination does he? Just seems to make it up as he goes along, taking a player off for another player in exactly the same position. Don't try to alter the formation or change the tactics a bit. Barry Cogan *sigh* into replace Southam and Jason Walker straight in for Bricknell. Bricknell being our joint most biggest goal threat, while Walker has showed very little of note since joining us and will probably turn out to be another Jason Walker. We've all had enough of Martin and his passionateless, half-arsed style of management. We need to get rid now if we want to salvage our season. There are absolutely no indications that he will turn this around and get us anywhere near to promotion. He's got to go.
  • Thought our fans were top notch for most of the game and Bricknell and Watt's tweets seemed to echo that. Including a nice emotion filled Dave Bell's black and White army for ten minutes after the game. We werent great numerically with people getting sick and tired of watching dross under Martin Hayes, but those of us who were there were great. Kudos.
  • It ccontinued to get very messy after the game in both the bar and the sovereigns. I was struggling to stand still after the game. One thing I was pleased with myself about was that I managed to refute most of my dads attempts to buy the drinks in and paid for most of my own, even getting him one at some stage! Anyway, after a final ale in the Sovereigns we got caught a half 6 train back to Waterloo. Being the fucking legend that I am and not having eaten since a sausage baguette at half 8 in the morning, I bought a triple chicken sandwich from co-op, a cheese and ham sandwich from M&S along with a big packet of cumberland sausage crisps. After munching through this, I bought  a McChicken sandwich meal and also ended up eating someone elses burger. You can now see why I'm a little on the larger side.
  • I was utterly wankered by the time I got on the Waterloo to Ramsgate train. I was meant to go to Victoria because it woulod have been quicker to get back to Herne Bay but I was enjoying my company too much so went the long way around. I could barely walk or string a coherent sentance on this train. How I ended up making it back to Herne Bay I have no idea of. I kept nodding off on the trains home but somehow ended up making it back without waking up in Bromley South again.  Excellent stuff. Overall it was quite a decent day considering the circumstances.
So now we got onto Farnborough tonight. I hate Tuesday games and I'm not particularly looking forward to this one. I'm actually going into the game tonight being totally apathetic to whether we win or lose, which is a very strange feeling. I just feel like winning tonight will delay the inevitable and drag out the process even more than it should be. Its going to be a struggle to get 700 through the turnstiles tonight and for that alone it will be grim. I've not since so much negativity around ths club since Clive Walker was in charge. Anyway I need to get on and do stuff, so sorry for the vagueness in this piece. I will write up a detailed entry of the Farnborough game to make up for it.
